Mr. Shameem Al Mamun joined this Mission in April 2003 as a First Secretary. As Head of Labour Wing of this Embassy, he is responsible for all matters relating to expatriate welfare and employment including:
- employment/recruitment of Bangladesh nationals in Bahrain; - settling complaints and disputes between workers and employers; - repatriation of dead bodies of expatriate workers; - realisation of compensation from Employers; - court cases on behalf of the family of deceased and absent employees; - counselling expatriates on investment and savings in Bangladesh; - addressing problems on property and safety of expatriate workers back in country; - repatriating stranded or destitute Bangladesh nationals; - visiting hospital to see Bangladesh expatriate workers; - Bangladesh community organizations; - Bangladesh School, Bahrain; and - human rights issues, in particular worker’s rights.
Mr. Mamun was born in 1965. After graduating from the University of Dhaka (major in Public Administration), he joined Bangladesh Civil Service in December 1989 as the youngest officer. As a permanent member of Civil Service, he has acquired wide range of working experiences in various sectors of Government ranging from magistracy to teaching as a Faculty Member of Bangladesh Civil Service Academy. He was Assistant Secretary in the Ministry of Jute and Textile and Senior Assistant Secretary in the Ministry of Civil Aviation & tourism, Ministry of Chittagong Hill Tracts Affairs and Ministry of Establishment. He was UNO (Chief Executive) of Lalpur Upazila (sub-district). He has also worked with UNHCR. He has been promoted to the post of Deputy Secretary in October 2006.
He did his Master in Public Administration from the University of Dhaka. He attended several training programmes and participated seminars and symposia in USA, UK, Japan, Malaysia, Indonesia, Iran, and Singapore.
Mr. Mamun is married to Ferdousee Akhter and they have a son named Sajid. |
