His Excellency the Ambassador

His Excellency Md. Ali Akbar, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the People’ Republic of Bangladesh to the Kingdom of Bahrain assumed the charge of his office on 02 September 2008. He presented his Letter of Credence (Advance Copy) to His Excellency Shaikh Khalid bin Ahmed Al Khalifa, Honble Foreign Minister of the Kingdom of Bahrain on 15 September 2008. Then he submitted his Letter of Credence in original to His Majesty Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, King of the Kingdom of Bahrain on 21 October 2008.

Before taking over his charge as Ambassador of Bangladesh to Bahrain, he served as Consul General of Bangladesh as well as Alternate Permanent Representative of Bangladesh to the General Secretariat, Organization of the Islamic Conference, based in Jeddah, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. Previously he served as Minister and Deputy Chief of Mission at Bangladesh Embassy in Riyadh, KSA; Counselor and CDA of Bangladesh Embassy in Bhutan and as First Secretary as well as Second Secretary at the Bangladesh Embassy in Tokyo, Japan. He worked in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Bangladesh in various capacities dealing with both bilateral and multilateral affairs. He served in the Ministry as Director looking after international organizations namely the Organization of the Islamic Conference (OIC), the Non-Aligned Movement (NAM) and the Commonwealth and as Assistant Secretary in different sections.

He completed his Masters Degree in English at the University of Dhaka, Bangladesh. He started his career as Lecturer in English at a College under the University of Dhaka. He successfully completed Bangladesh Civil Service Examinations competing for the Foreign Service Cadre and then joined the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Government of Bangladesh in 1988. After joining the Ministry he undertook various training programs on administration, financial management and diplomacy at the domestic level. Besides, he also completed a Diplomatic Program for Young Diplomats of the Asia and Pacific Region in Tokyo, Japan.

He attended / represented Bangladesh at many international meetings and conferences of OIC, NAM and Commonwealth.

He likes studying books on Philosophy, History, Religion and International Affairs covering politics, economics and socio-cultural issues.

Mrs. Nasreen Akbar, wife of the Ambassador is closely associated with the diplomatic circle in Bahrain and she participates in and contributes to all events related to diplomatic mission at her level.

The couple is blessed with a son named Salek Muyeen Akbar, student of Grade X.

Mr Mehdi Hasan has joined the Mission on 22 September 2011.







First Secretary (Labour) and Head of Labour Wing

Mr Muhammad Ibrahim joined this Mission in March 2008. As the labour attaché, he is responsible for all matters relating to the welfare of the expatriate Bangladeshis and employment generation for Bangladesh nationals in the Kingdom of Bahrain.

Mr Ibrahim has graduated from the University of Dhaka with major in Finance. He did his Masters in Health Economics from the University of Dhaka in Bangladesh and the University of York in the United Kingdom. He has joined the Bangladesh Civil Service in 1993. He has worked in the Ministries of Health & Family Welfare, Water Resources, Land and various administrative units in Bangladesh. He has undergone long and short term trainings in Bangladesh and countries like United Kingdom, Thailand, Belgium and the Netherlands.

Mr Ibrahim is married to Ms Nadia Kohinoor and they have two daughters named Nahid Sharmin and Farha Sharmin.
