AGREEMENT OF CULTURAL COOPERATION BETWEEN THE GOVERNMENT OF THE STATE OF BAHRAIN AND THE GOVERNMENT OF THE PEOPLE’S REPUBLIC OF BANGLADESH

Inspired by a common desire to further strengthen the existing friendly relations between the two countries, and to promote mutual understanding  and knowledge between their peoples; Desiring to facilitate and develop closer cooperation between the two countries in the cultural fields;

 

Have agreed as follows:

 

Articles  1

 

The contracting parties shall encourage and promote cooperation in the fields of:

a)         literature, music visual and performing arts, crafts and other cultural activities;

b)         education and research;

c)         science and technology;

d)         press, radio, television and films;

e)         tourism;

f)         sports and games

 

Article  2

 

The contracting parties shall facilitate and encourage the exchange of educationists, scientists and technologists, litterateurs, journalists, artists, sports teams and others cultural groups.

 

Article  3

 

Each Contracting Party shall endeavour to provide the nationals of the other Contracting Party with scholarships and other facilities for study, training and research in its own country.

 

Article  4

 

The Contracting Parties shall endeavour to promote and develop close relations and cooperation between the two countries by the following means:

 

 i)          Exchange of visits by professors, scientists, technologists, journalists and other specialists.

 ii)         Exchange of delegations in the fields of education, science, culture and arts.

 iii)        Encouraging art and cultural exhibitions.

 iv)       Exchange of radio and television programmes as well as cultural and scientific films, tapes and other  audiovisual materials.

 v)         Exchange of visits of artists and cultural groups, dance and music ensembles and sports teams and coaches.

 

Article  5

 

The Contracting Parties shall examine the methods and conditions upon which degrees, diplomas and certificates acquired in each contracting Party for academic or professional purposes.

 

Article  6

 

Nothing in this Agreement shall affect the obligations of any person from the country of either Contracting Party to comply with the rules and regulations in force in the country of the other Contracting Party concerning entry, residence and departure of foreigners.

 

Article  7

The contracting Parties shall, after mutual consultation for the purpose of implementation of this Agreement, sign cultural exchange programmes at Government level.

 

Article  8

 

This Agreement shall remain in force for a period of five years and shall be automatically renewed for equivalent periods unless either Contracting Party gives to the other six months’ period written notice of its desire to terminate the Agreement.

 

Article  9

 

This Agreement shall come into force upon signature of the Contracting Parties. In witness thereof, the undersigned, being authorized by their respective governments have signed this Agreement.

 

Done at Manama on the 8 th Day of August 1992, which corresponds to the 9 th day of Saffar 1413 A.H. in three languages, Bengali, Arabic and English in three original copies, all of which are equally authentic. In case of difference, the English text shall prevail.
